Sign onto our letter to Collins and King opposing the war on federal safeguards
The Maine Small Business Coalition opposes the Regulatory Accountability Act (RAA), which the U.S. Senate is currently considering. This bill would make it much harder for federal regulators to improve on federal safeguards and would empower big business lobbyists to tie up the process.
The bulk of federal protections keep our food and drugs safe, rein in predatory banking practices, fight environmental abuses, and myriad other public benefits. Only through a fair system of rulemaking can we make sure that the biggest corporations don’t use their outsized influence to game the regulatory system in their favor.
Too often these big corporations use the name of small businesses to push their agenda in Congress. We want to show our elected officials that Maine small business owners support common sense regulations that help level the playing field between Main Street and Wall Street.
